If you’ve never traveled solo before, 2023 should be the year you go for it! There are so many reasons to travel solo and traveling solo is becoming increasingly popular. This style of travel is trending, so there is no better time to step out of that comfort zone and experience traveling alone than now. Solo travel has so many benefits, so it is worth giving it a shot at least once. Solo travel allows you experience a new place while also discovering YOU.

1. Confidence Building
When you travel solo, you are likely stepping out of your comfort zone in so many ways. This gives you the opportunity to develop the ability to put yourself out there. Traveling solo gives you the confidence to take advantage of new opportunities, which you won’t want to miss out on. You will realize that you can learn so much from talking to strangers and gaining access to the information you wouldn’t have been privy to otherwise.
2. Added Freedom
Traveling solo provides you with extra freedom that you wouldn’t have if you were traveling with friends, family, or a significant other. While these people are great to travel with, a solo trip allows you to make it YOUR trip! You make the decisions. All of them.
3. Self-Awareness
When you go solo, you are more likely to become more aware of your surroundings. You will likely become more observant of the things going on around you, therefore resulting in a more fulfilling travel experience. It is easy to miss out on the little things when you are distracted by others with you.

4. Organizational Skills
Being the one in charge of planning the entire vacation can be A LOT of work. This can often come with planning flights, transportation, accommodations, activities, visas, and so on. It is important to remain organized during this process. It can become overwhelming and you don’t want to miss anything important. On the other hand, you have total control over planning your whole trip which provides a great sense of ownership over the trip!

5. Travel at Your Pace
Sometimes the pressure to keep up with the pace of others you’re traveling with is overwhelming. Most of the time when visiting a new place it is impossible to see it all, you only have so much time. If you’re like me though, I need time still to rest or I will get too tired to keep pressing on. The benefit of traveling alone is that if you need a mid-afternoon nap, you can return to your accommodation guilt-free for that break. Additionally, if you’re not enjoying something, you can choose to move on, or on the flip side, if you are absolutely loving an experience, you can make the decision to stay longer without inconveniencing anyone!
6. The Art of Being Alone
Learn to enjoy your own company. You don’t always need others to accomplish great things. Traveling solo allows you to see how happy and content you can be in the presence of just you. Take the time for yourself and learn the art of being alone. Obviously, you don’t have to be completely alone because there are other tourists and locals, but you have the option of removing yourself from the over-socialization that we often times run into.
