Most Beautiful Places in Portugal

This is the place I spent a week each summer during high school. Time and time again the beaches exceeded all expectations. Even though I knew what to expect, it was more beautiful every time. I visited in late June and early July which were the perfect months. It was warm during the day, but cool at night. The people are so friendly and amazing and the culture there is so beautiful. Portugal was my first taste of Europe. I did not travel solo during any of my trips in Portugal, but I feel it is one of the safest places I’ve visited.

I am not saying this will happen all the time, because crime happens everywhere, but I lost my cellphone one night in our hotel parking lot and even 24 hours later it had been returned to the hotel lobby by someone. I was shocked, as was everyone else. I believe the people of Portugal are beautiful people who love all-things Portugal and to celebrate all good things.

This PLACE!! I have spent three summers working in a city-ran summer camp in Portimão. My heart loves this place, but it’s all because of the views, the people, and atmosphere of this city.

Sagres, Algarve, Portugal

The end of the Old World. Sagres is the western-most tip in Europe and also the last explored point in the ancient world. For these reasons, the Romans considered this to be the end of the world. There is not a whole lot to see in this small town, but the views from the dramatic cliffs make you want to spend a couple hours here. It is cold and windy here (I visited in July) so I would recommend pulling your hair back and not wearing anything that would blow in the wind. There are some shops at the point and the cliffs can be climbed on so comfortable and sturdy shoes are a must. The coast here is gorgeous and I make a point to visit Sagres every time I am in the Algarve.
