Houston, Texas– a city known for many things, one that gives a bit of southern charm with a little international appeal simultaneously. Houston is a large and exciting city, in fact, it’s the 4th largest city in the country.
There is no question if you should visit Houston or not, but the question is when to go and what to do. I’ll answer those questions on another page, but now I will answer some other important questions here:
- How to Get There- Houston has two airports, Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Hobby (HOU), so you obviously could fly into either (typically Bush). Most of my visits to Houston have been by car since I live around 4 hours away, and having my own vehicle makes getting around much more convenient.
- Driving yourself around Houston means being aware of toll roads and being prepared for Houston traffic! While using a ride-share service is possible, so many of Houston’s attractions are spread out so the costs that you could incur from that service could be high- depending on your type/length of the trip.
- Where to Stay- If you don’t mind a ton of one-way streets and the hustle and bustle of a downtown community, you can find many hotel options here. One hotel recommendation is the Marriott Marquis Houston… click here to find out why.
- I personally am not sure if I will choose to stay directly downtown again. So many attractions are spread out around the entire city of Houston which is HUGE. Staying downtown doesn’t necessarily guarantee proximity to everything you want to do. Most of my visits to Houston though have included a stay at my best friend’s home.
- Some of the best areas of Houston are Montrose, The Heights, and Galleria/Uptown,
