Travel trends for 2026 aren’t just guesswork — they’re shaped by real data. From flight searches and accommodation bookings to tour demand and tourism forecasts, it’s clear that travelers are prioritizing destinations that offer authentic culture, safety, meaningful experiences, and room to breathe. For female travelers especially, the shift is toward places that feel empowering, immersive, and thoughtfully paced. While I don’t travel solo anymore, I am still, searching for destinations that fit this description.
Based on where people are actively booking trips and what’s becoming increasingly sought after, these are the destinations rising to the top for 2026. Some of these are already on my bucket list!
Kyoto, Japan
Japan continues to dominate travel trend reports, with strong increases in flight searches and long-stay bookings. Travelers are moving beyond quick city visits and choosing experience-rich itineraries — making Kyoto and other cultural hubs especially appealing.

- Excellent public transportation and easy navigation for solo travelers

A note for female travelers: Japan is consistently ranked among the safest destinations for solo travel.
Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon remains one of Europe’s most booked cities thanks to affordability, walkability, and a lively food and wine scene. Booking data shows travelers favoring cities that blend culture with relaxation — and Lisbon delivers both. While Lisbon is amazing, this is a place I have been multiple times. I can highly recommend, but won’t personally be planning to return soon.

A note for female travelers: Not only is it affordable, but Lisbon has friendly locals and a warm atmosphere to make you feel right at home.

Wellness and eco-focused travel continue to surge, and Costa Rica consistently ranks high in searches and bookings. Female travelers are especially drawn to destinations where nature and self-care intersect.

Iceland
Search interest for Iceland remains high as travelers prioritize dramatic landscapes and outdoor experiences. Despite its popularity, Iceland’s infrastructure makes it one of the easiest adventure destinations for women to navigate confidently. We’re hoping to find ourselves here very soon!

- Strong interest in Northern Lights and midnight sun travel
A note for female travelers: Iceland is consistently ranked as the #1 safest country in the world, making it a great option for solo female travelers.
Marrakech, Morocco
Cultural immersion is a key trend for 2026, and Marrakech continues to draw travelers seeking vibrant markets, historic architecture, and curated luxury experiences. I can see what draws people here, but this isn’t somewhere I will likely be putting on my radar anytime soon.
Why it’s trending:

- Rich sensory experiences that feel truly immersive
A note for female travelers: Stay in a riad with staff on site and book guided tours to make exploring more comfortable and stress-free.
South Korea
South Korea’s rise is driven by cultural influence, pop culture tourism, and increasing flight demand. Travelers are booking longer stays to explore beyond Seoul.
Why it’s trending:
- Growing influence of Korean culture, fashion, and beauty tourism (think: Korean skincare)
- Strong café culture and experiential travel like cooking classes and workshops

Booking interest reflects a desire for places that feel truly different — and Uzbekistan delivers. We may not make it here in 2026, but it’s on our “maybe” list for 2027. Just need to time it right!

Sardinia is gaining momentum as travelers look beyond Italy’s busiest destinations. Search and booking trends show rising interest in quieter coastal regions with authentic local culture. When we were planning out our trip to Italy we seriously considered Sardinia, unfortunately we just won’t have the time.
