Moab, Utah

I’m sure many of you are familiar with Moab. I had always heard about the town before ever visiting. When I searched for places to stay, Moab was consistently more expensive- probably because it is right in the middle of everything. This would be a great stay if you are not interested in driving a whole lot. That didn’t bother me, so I chose to stay somewhere a bit cheaper. There are tons to do in Moab, Utah that you could spend quite some time exploring. I’ll make a quick list of the things we did and places we visited in Moab in case you want to think about spending time here!

Places to Eat-

  • Moab Diner– options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner which are really good! We had both breakfast and lunch there during our stay.
  • Moab Food Truck Park– this is a newer addition to the Moab community but really convenient and a great place to eat on a beautiful day! Food trucks include options for all different types of cuisine like typical American, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, and more! The food was delicious, and we enjoyed sitting under the covered area that was full of picnic tables.

Main Street

This is where most of the activities happen and it is the main highway that runs through Moab. There are tons of souvenir shops, where I love to buy a t-shirt in the places I visit, along the street. There are restaurants, coffee shops, clothing stores, and more located on Main Street. Once you find a place to park, you can walk around to the places you want to visit or take a stroll and stop into each of the shops!

Colorado River

The Colorado River is a long river that runs through multiple states, but you can drive the highway along the river starting Moab. The views are beautiful and there are tons of campsites along the area, along with, of course, viewpoints. There are so many activities you can do along the Colorado River and many tour companies located in Moab offer tours and access to these activities. One in particular that I used (not for water activities) was Canyonlands By Day and Night, which I’ll mention again later on! Make your reservations way in advance before coming on your trip, because it’s likely they will book up quick for warm weather activities! Based on experience, you will not be able to make reservations day-of. If I would have known how warm it would be during the day in early April, I would have made some type of reservation for rafting or kayaking!

  • Some activities to do on or along the Colorado River are:
    • Kayaking/ Canoeing
    • Whitewater Rafting
    • Camping
    • Swimming (in some areas)

Red Cliffs Lodge

I wish I would have known about this place before booking accommodations! While I loved the other places we stayed, if you are looking for more of a cabin-type lodging experience with activities on the property, this is the place to stay! Red Cliffs Lodge is located in Moab along the Colorado River. We did our horseback riding tour here! We also did the wine tasting that was located on the property as well. The property has a pool, gym, restaurant, private access to a launch ramp on the Colorado River, horseback riding, and a movie museum. Red Cliffs Lodge is about 20 minutes away from downtown Moab and Arches National Park.

If you are wanting to do horseback riding in the area, I highly recommend booking your tour here. They offer 2hr trips and 1.5hr trips. We did the 1.5-hour tour and booked it through Canyonlands By Day and Night! They had great reviews and I had no clue before booking where to do this, but I was SO impressed by the tour and the price was great too! The tour guides were so kind and helpful, and the tour was just amazing as well. Honestly, I miss my horse, Lefty, he was a great horse and made the ride great!
