Michigan- the mitten state. Have you heard Michigan referred as this before? If you know anyone in Michigan, you know they will describe a location by holding up their hand representing Michigan or a mitten and they will tell you exactly where it is. EVERY single person does this. I have not met a resident of Michigan who did not give me directions in this way.
