Boston

What we did during times of COVID-19:

In this section I will highlight my favorite experiences we had in Boston. There were many things I would have liked to have done while there, but some attractions just hadn’t reopened. Click here to bring you to my Boston FAQS.

  1. Freedom Trail: THIS IS A MUST DO!!! If you don’t walk the entire Freedom Trail, especially on your first day there, you’re missing out. This trail allowed us to get our bearings straight with the city and we saw all the best historical spots. If you’re coming for the history, you will want to do this. I opted for a self-guided tour. It is super simple. I downloaded the app and bought the audio for $1.99. The starting point has a visitor’s center where you can also purchase a map for around $3 to make sure you stay on the path. The entire pathway runs through Boston has a red brick path so there was really no need for Google Maps!
  2. Tour the USS Constitution: This tour is very short, but also located along the Freedom Trail. This is one of the only free tours along the trail and it was amazing to see the history behind the ship and how it is still being used today.
  3. Take the tour through the Old South Meeting House and Old State House: Right now during COVID-19 you can only tour the Old State House if you purchase the two locations at the same time. Both locations are packed with history and definitely worth seeing. The Old South Meeting House is overall a really cool building but it is where the organization of the Boston Tea Party happened. The Old State House has a lot more to see, but it is the sight where the Boston Massacre took place. You can still take picture of the plaque on the ground and the building, but I’m glad we took the tour inside.
  4. Stroll through the North End: Two things- Mike’s Pastry and an authentic Italian dinner. Need I say more? Make reservations in advance to eat almost anywhere in the North End. If they say they take reservations, it’s because you will not get in unless you make one. Unfortunately, we waited too late and there was only one place available that night. On the other hand, it was also the best place ever and I HIGHLY recommend it. We ate at Vinoteca di Monica for our last dinner in Boston and it did not disappoint! If you visit Boston and don’t head to the North End and grab a pastry at the famous Mike’s Pastry then you missed out. Anything you get at Mike’s is fantastic, you’ll want to go back for more (which we did). Another brief recommendation for a quick and easy dinner in the North End is Ernesto’s Pizza. We ate there the night we got there since we were starving and needed something quick. The pizza was SO good.
  5. Stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston: I highly recommend our hotel we stayed at. It was nice and came at such a reasonable price during this time. It was right near everything and we were able to walk to literally everywhere! There is shopping, dinning, and attractions all nearby. If you’re looking for the best area to stay in, check out the Hyatt Regency Boston. This location was at One Avenue de Lafayette, Boston, MA.

Other MUST see locations/attractions:

Literally ANY park. They are all so lovely, especially in the fall. If you like being active or need a time of rest, the parks are made for you.

  2. Trillium Brewing Company in Fort Point
  3. Shop the Markets in Faneuil Hall Marketplace
